The new US secretary of defence, Pete Hegseth, will travel to Germany, Belgium and Poland next week, the Pentagon said on Friday, reported dpa.
Hegseth will set off for Germany from Washington on Monday, the US Department of Defense said.
In Germany, Hegseth will visit the headquarters of the US European Command and the US military command centre responsible for Africa in Stuttgart, the Pentagon said.
There he wants to meet with senior military and US soldiers stationed there to get the latest information on operations.
In Brussels, Hegseth will attend the NATO defence ministers' meeting and a gathering of Ukraine supporters.
The aim of the talks is to increase NATO's defence spending, strengthen European leadership and expand the defence industry's capabilities on both sides of the Atlantic, according to the Pentagon.
In addition, Hegseth wants to reiterate US President Donald Trump's "commitment for a diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible."
In Poland, the US defence secretary will meet with leading Polish politicians and visit US troops stationed there, the DoD said. According to the Pentagon, this is "his final stop."
It remained unclear whether Hegseth would also attend the Munich Security Conference, which begins next Friday.
