Israel issues evacuation warning for residents in S. Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday issued an evacuation warning for residents in several areas of Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza, ahead of planned military strikes, reported Xinhua.

"For your safety, evacuate immediately to the west and refrain from returning to the dangerous fighting areas," IDF Arab-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced on the social media platform X.

It added that the IDF operates "very strongly" in the region, and will "strike every area that is used to launch rockets towards Israel."

"As we have warned before, the destruction of terrorist organizations will continue and expand to any area used for terrorist activities," the statement read.

In an earlier statement, the IDF said that over the past day, its air force had struck around 100 "terror" targets throughout the Gaza Strip to support the troops operating on the ground.

Among the targets struck were launchers, military structures, weapons storage facilities, and additional "terror" targets, according to the Israeli army.

The ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 57,130 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 135,173 others injured, according to Gaza's health authorities.
