Twelve people were killed and eight others injured Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a Syrian refugee camp and an artesian well drilling vehicle in the Wadi Faara highlands in eastern Lebanon, according to Lebanese security and official sources, reported Xinhua.
The official Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the Wadi Faara area, one of which targeted a camp for Syrian refugees, resulting in 12 deaths, including seven Syrians, while eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the Israeli air force also launched raids on the southern border region, the western and eastern mountain ranges, as well as the Brital highlands of Lebanon, according to the NNA.
Lebanese security sources told Xinhua that the Israeli army "launched 13 airstrikes Tuesday on eastern Lebanon and one drone strike on southern Lebanon."
A ceasefire agreement brokered by the U.S. and France has been in effect between Hezbollah and Israel since November 27, 2024, following more than a year of clashes triggered by the war in the Gaza Strip.
Despite the agreement, which stipulated a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon by a deadline that expired on February 18, Israel continues to occupy five sites in southern Lebanon and carries out airstrikes in the south and east of the country, claiming they are aimed at eliminating "Hezbollah threats."
