Foreign ministers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday condemned Israel's "aggression" against Iran and other countries in the region, calling on the international community to adopt concrete deterrent measures, reported Xinhua.
The remarks were issued in the Istanbul Declaration, released at the close of the two-day 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
In the declaration, the ministers emphasized the "urgent need to stop Israeli attacks" and expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in Iran, warning that the situation posed serious risks to human life, economic stability, and the environment across the region.
The OIC ministers also denounced Israel's military campaign in the Gaza Strip, which has lasted over 19 months, describing it as an "ongoing campaign of genocide." They renewed calls for a permanent and sustainable ceasefire.
The declaration further condemned Israel's recent military actions in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran, characterizing them as blatant violations of sovereignty, security, and international law.
The ministers urged the international community to impose deterrent measures and hold Israel accountable for its actions.
As part of its response, the OIC announced the creation of an open-ended Ministerial Contact Group. The group will engage with regional and international stakeholders to support de-escalation efforts, halt hostilities against Iran, and work toward a peaceful resolution.
