FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who scored his 98th and 99th Champions League goals in the 5-2 victory over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday evening, praised his team for their performance in that match, reported Xinhua.
Lewandowski's brace came in the first half. After the break, the Pole had a chance to score a hat-trick and mark his 100th goal in the Champions League, but missed the target.
"During the match, I didn't think about how many goals I had already scored. I missed a good chance to find a hat-trick, but the most important thing was I had scoring opportunities. After the match, coach [Hansi] Flick said with a smile that it would be better if I scored my 100th goal in the competition at our stadium in Barcelona", the 36-year-old told Polish media on Thursday.
"It hurts us a bit that we conceded two goals. We could have done better in those situations. But we are happy to have three points," Lewandowski added.
After the victory in Belgrade, FC Barcelona moved into sixth place in the Champions League group stage classification with nine points. On November 26, the club will host French outfit and surprise package Brest.
