Hezbollah attacks several military sites in Israel

Lebanon's Hezbollah military group announced on Sunday that it has bombed several Israeli border sites and settlements, as sporadic fire across the Lebanese-Israeli border continues, reported Xinhua.

A statement released by Hezbollah said its fighters attacked five border "Zionist sites," including Jal al-Alam, Barakat Risha, Ramya, Al-Manara, and Al-Abad.

They also shelled the Hanita settlement, resulting in the damage of two Merkava tanks and a tracked personnel carrier, and several casualties within the Israeli army's ranks, said the statement.

Hezbollah said its attacks also targeted surveillance cameras and technical equipment installed by Israel in the Al-Motella settlement.

In response to Hezbollah's attacks, the Israeli artillery bombed with over 50 shells the towns of Mays al-Jabal, Hula, Aita al-Shaab, Marwahin, and al-Qalila, causing damage to 12 homes in the Qalila village, according to Lebanese military sources.

On the same day, Andrea Tenenti, spokesperson of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that the exchange of fire between Lebanon and Israel intensified in the evening along the Blue Line, and a missile fell on the headquarters of the UNIFIL in Naqoura.

"Fortunately, no one was hurt; we are working to verify the source of the missile," he said.

The situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated after Hezbollah fired on Oct. 8 tens of rockets toward military sites in Shebaa Farms in support of the "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood" launched by Hamas on Oct. 7, prompting the Israeli forces to respond the same day by firing heavy artillery.
