Finns win bronze in Women´s Ice Hockey WC

Finland won bronze in the Women´s Ice Hockey World championship 2025 beating the host Czech Republic in a dramatic match held at Arena Ceske Budejovice on Sunday.

Although the Finns were trial by three goals until the middle of second period, finally they fought back and achieved the victory by an extra-time goal as the match was ended 3-3 draw in the scheduled period.

Jenniina Nylund scored the winning goal at the fifth minute of extra time ensuring the bronze for the country.

Earlier in the match, Czech took 1-0 lead at the very beginning when Kristyna Kaltounkova scored at the third minute in the first period.

Natalie Mlynkova widened the gap 2-0 at the 13th minute followed by another goal at the 31st minute when Dominika Laskova scored for the country to create tremendous pressure on Finland.

The situation started to change when Elli Suoranta scored the first goal for Finland at the 37th minute while Elisa Holopainen reduced the gap 2-3 at the 42nd minute raising ray of hope among the Finns. Holopainen again rescued the team and finally equalised the score just with 93 seconds left to play.

United States of America won the title this year beating Canada by an extra-time goal as the scheduled time of the final match was ended 3-3 draw.
