The Dubai-based Emirates Airline has flown more than 14 million passengers between June and August, marking one of its busiest-ever summer seasons, the official news agency WAM reported Wednesday, reported Xinhua.
During the period, Emirates has operated nearly 50,000 flights to and from 140 cities, with an average seat load factor of more than 80 percent across its global network, said the report.
Inbound visitors carried by the airline primarily came from Britain, India, Germany, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt and Kuwait, it added.
According to the report, more than 35 percent of visitors to Dubai traveling by Emirates were families, with an average stay of more than two weeks.
It noted that the city had received more than 8.5 million inbound visitors in the first half of 2023, up by more than 1 million compared to the same period last year.
Travel demand across the airline's global network has been strong and resilient despite rising cost-of-living pressures in many countries, the WAM quoted Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Adnan Kazim as saying.
The report also noted that even after the boom in the summer season, bookings for the airline's international flights show no sign of abating in the coming months.
The airline is anticipating another spike in the winter season as Dubai is scheduled to host a series of global conferences and sporting events, according to the report.
