Five Israeli soldiers were killed and 14 others injured in an explosion in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israeli military said on Tuesday, reported Xinhua.
The troops from the Kfir Brigade's Netzah Yehuda Battalion were surrounding a booby-trapped building in Beit Hanoun when explosive devices were detonated, according to a military statement.
During evacuation, the rescuers came under fire in a combined ambush by Palestinian fighters, then the wounded personnel were "evacuated to a hospital to receive medical treatment," said the statement.
Since Israel resumed its military offensive in Gaza on March 18, 2025, at least 6,964 Palestinians have been killed, bringing the total death toll since October 2023 to 57,523, according to the Gaza health authorities.
